Lekeu Franck Dupre: Works For Violin And Piano on CD

The multifaceted violinist Michał Buczkowski and the renowned pianist Andrew Wright combine works for violin and piano by three generations of composers in this album. César Franck, who was known as an outstanding organist and improviser, provides the historical foundation. His short work Mélancolie is filled with beautiful melodies and an underlying nostalgic character. One of his most talented students was Guillaume Lekeu, whose compositions show Franck's influence through rich harmonic language, expansive melodies, and expressive polyphony. Marcel Dupré, who was a famous organ virtuoso like Franck, studied with Louis Vierne, who was a student of Franck. This close musical connection forms a perfect stylistic dramaturgy and is reflected in an extraordinary musical sonority and virtuosity. Remarkably, this recording is the first recording of this incredible masterpiece.
