Tim Brick Biography The Artist: Born and raised in Vermont, Tim Brick has loved music since childhood. He began his musical journey when he first picked up a guitar at the age of thirteen. Drawing water from the wells of both rock and country, Tim's music is a hybrid sound often referred to as Alternative country, Southern rock, or outlaw country. Since childhood, he was exposed to both sides of the musical tracks. Searching through his mother's record collection, he was introduced to Bruce Springsteen, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, and The Beatles. When his father(a long distance trucker) would return home, he would here the sounds of Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Hank Williams jr., and Johnny Cash. While learning to sing and play, Tim fell in love with the art of songwriting and listening to the great songwriters like Bob Dylan, Steve Earle, and Ryan Adams. Over time he came to realize one thing.... It's all about the song. " It's about a lot more than just playing the right notes. You have to live it, breathe it, and drink it. The audience has to believe that these songs come from your heart and soul." The Music: Throughout the 1990's, Tim cut his teeth playing guitar in numerous bands. Growing tired of bouncing from band to band and the lack of success that each venture brought, Tim formed his own band, "Black Hills Railroad" in 1998. What began as a simple demo recording session, quickly grew into a three piece band. Although the project had a short life of two years, the band recorded three albums worth of original music featuring Tim as the singer, guitarist, and principle songwriter. In 2002, he joined a locally based hard rock group named "Cellblock One". Hired as the band's lead guitarist, he began to focus on his songwriting. The group was active in the music scene of Vermont and New England from 2002 to 2008. In that time, the band played clubs throughout New England (including appearences at Vermont's premier club 'Higher ground') and recorded and released three albums. Once again, Tim was the band's principle songwriter. 2008 was pivitol year for Tim both personally and professionally. The beginning of the year found him healing from an injury to his fret hand. A broken ring finger which required three screws to fix and put his love of guitar playing in serious perile. This coupled with his growing frustration with rock music, brought him to a crossroads. At this point he decided if he was able to come back from injury, not only would he take control of his career, but would play the type of music he really loved. March, 2008 marked the emergence of Tim Brick as a solo country entity. With a feeling of vibrance and re-birth Tim assembled a band to back his efforts. Originally known as "The Wandering Gypsies" quickly became "The Gypsy Highway". A band, consisting of old and new friends, allowed Tim to bring his country/rock brand to the clubs and bars of Vermont. Tim spent the spring and summer of 2008 playing throughout the state with the band and also acoustically on a regular basis. His efforts were rewarded when he became a top ten finalists in the 2008 Vermont Colgate Country Showdown held at The Tunbridge fair. 2009 found him splitting his time between performing at shows and wrapping up production at Egan Media studios. The recording sessions culminated with the summer release of Tim's debut effort: Borderline. A disc that serves up ten country/rock dishes of goodtimes, heartaches, and scenes of life all composed by Tim Brick. Another highlight of 2009 was the acceptance of " Goodtime friends"(a song penned by Tim as an ode to Vermont night life) to The Area Code 802 CD( a compilation disc featuring the top talent of Vermont). A portion of the proceeds were donated to the Prevent Child Abuse organization. An honorable charity. On any given night you can find Tim Brick performing acoustically or backed by his band 'the Gypsy Highway". The band performs classic country, new country, southern rock, and a catalouge of orginal material. That brings us to here......
